Bath Conservatives have criticised the decision of Bath and North East Somerset Council to place concrete barriers along Larkhall High Street.
A Bath Conservatives spokesperson said:
"The hideous concrete wall along Larkhall High Street was erected without adequate consultation, and despite 1,000 people signing a petition criticising the previous plastic barriers put in place weeks ago.
"These barriers have been shown to rob local shops of trade, discriminate against those with mobility issues, and are clearly deeply unpopular within the community.
"The suspicion of many is that this is really about the LibDem administration stealthily imposing their anti-car prejudices on all local residents, even those for whom a car is a vital tool for their business, or in their personal life.
"The Council needs to listen to residents and businesses in Larkhall and across Bath, and think again."
