Visited the Bath Spa University Locksbrook Campus this afternoon. Wow! This brand new campus is truly stunning. The building by the River Avon on Locksbrook Road used to be the Herman Miller office furniture factory and has been transformed for students, and the local community, with open plan flexible work spaces and sympathetic design preserving the unique characteristics of the building. Work was also done with Bath and North East Somerset Council ecologists to protect the local bat population, and the building is linked to local cycle paths for access to nearby student accommodation and the city centre. This is a great revived asset for the City as a whole; another example of the innovation and creativity that sits at the heart of Bath and offers great opportunities for the future.
