I was the first elected Councillor in Bath & North East Somerset from Indian heritage and represents your ward on the Council. I was the first ever person of Asian descent to be elected as the Deputy Mayor of our city. I have been extremely active for the community and was voted the most influential person in Bath in 2020 by the Bath Chronicle.
I support several charities in our City. The University of Bath has established two awards from my Councillor allowance. I have worked passionately and actively for our community and I was the chief architect in establishing the Bath Indian Cultural Society. I also lobbied with
the local administration in Bath for the establishment of the first Hindu temple in our City.
I sit on various committees on the Council, and at the University. I volunteer regularly in various public gardens, churchyards, and parks in Bathwick and I also donate my Councillor’s allowance to various charities.
One of my achievements was establishing benches for the residents, students, and tourists along Bathwick Hill and the canal. I continue to speak out fearlessly at full Council and cabinet meetings. I have spoken out on behalf of the residents on important issues including freedom of expression, Cleveland Bridge, transport, and the future of the rugby stadium.
I speak several languages including Mandarin at a near-native level, and have appeared on the BBC and national television in China and India, helping to promote Bath to the world.
I would be honoured to continue my work as your representative on the Council.
